pricing guidelines
One of the biggest benefits of consigning with The Collective Edit is that you set your own prices. You have full control over how items are priced and whether they will be discounted during Half Price Day at the end of the sale.
That said, the most successful consignors price with one goal in mind: sell the item. Pricing competitively helps ensure your items move quickly and don’t return home with you after the sale.
Pro Tip
Ask yourself:
“Would I buy this item, at this price, if I walked into the sale today?”
With thousands of items on the sales floor, pieces that are priced competitively are far more likely to sell.
Pricing Best Practices
When setting prices, keep the following tips in mind:
-
Price items as a buyer, not a seller.
-
Choose prices you would be excited to pay if you found the item at the sale.
-
Avoid overpricing—competitive pricing allows you to earn money rather than take items home unsold.
-
A good rule of thumb is to price items at 60–80% off original retail.
-
The minimum price is $5.00 per item.
-
Prices may be set in $0.50 increments. We recommend adding a $0.50 increment whenever possible—those small increases add up without discouraging shoppers.
Half Price Day
-
We strongly recommend marking all items—especially clothing—for discount on Half Price Day.
-
Discounted items have a much higher chance of selling, particularly at the end of the sale.
-
Consignors who participate in Half Price Day typically sell more items and earn more overall, as shoppers are actively seeking the best deals.
-
Items marked for donation are automatically discounted during Half Price Day.
Unsold Items
-
Any items not picked up by the designated pickup time will be donated to one of our local charity partners.
